Algonquin Park Wildlife Observation

June has more documented Moose sightings than any other time of the year. They come out along the roads for the remnants of winter salt and to get a break from the mosquitos and flies. Although most animal species can be observed May through November most visitors find that the best viewing is before the heat of the summer but after hibernation when food sources again become readily available and Algonquin Park mammals are busy taking advantage of the many newly emerging abundant sources of food.

It is very common to observe moose, black bear, deer, foxes, beaver, wolves right alone the side of the road. Those willing to venture can observe many animal species if you have the patience to wait quietly at an upwind observation point. Folks who have the time for longer stays in the Park typically get a feel for observation points and of course early morning and early evening are prime times.

When you stay at Algonquin Inn resort during the month of June for wildlife viewing you will receive a complimentary copy of the Animal Tracks book which can be put to good use when hiking on the many local trails.
